Is there anything more west country than a tractor rally?
After the inaugural Ray’s tractor rally last year in aid of raising funds for daughter Rachel Heywood’s London Marathon challenge for the Wareham & Purbeck MS Society, the team decided to do it all over again in 2019.
This year the aim is to raise money for Kennedy’s Disease (KD-UK) & Wareham & Purbeck MS Society in aid of the 100 mile Ride London bike ride taking place in August 2019.
Ray’s Tractor Run 2019 was held at The Great Field in Poundbury near Dorchester in West Dorset, where 80+ tractors from vintage County and Massey Ferguson’s through to brand spanking new New Hollands gathered in the morning. Before taking a scenic route on and off road through the beautiful Dorset countryside to Hardy’s Monument for a tea and cake stop.
On the return to The Great Field via Maiden Castle they gathered for hot dogs, more cake and a fabulous raffle supported by lots of local Dorset businesses.
It was such a spectacular site seeing all the beautiful tractors old and new, in all sorts of shapes and sizes come together, as well as their drivers who were all beaming with happiness and pride. There’s something pretty special about the rural community when it comes together, especially for such a great charity fundraiser as this.
Well done to Raymond, Rachel, Irene and all the gang for organising such a fantastic day both for tractor drivers and spectators, as well as raising over £8,000 for the two charities – which is just blimmin amazing!

And here’s some tractor photo highlights and memories from the day. Enjoy!
